Our 6th graders are keeping a regular email contact with 7th graders from Butternut, Wisconsin, consisting in exchanging cultural and personal information through fortnightly messages. The school is Butternut Elementary and we have contacted through epals.com
Our students are really excited to learn about their new epals and are eager to send and receive news from their American friends.
Another epals exchange will take place later in May-June between our 5th graders and a class in North Dakota that is learning about Spain.
Please, comment and give me your opinion about this movie, The Snowman 🙂 Thank you and merry Christmas!
Design and create a poster, leaflet, brochure, flyer… about important Geography facts of a country or a place you like. Stick photos or draw pictures of its mountains, rivers, lakes, beaches and more and write what you can do there under each photo or picture. Bring this to the classroom on May 12th (oral test).
Dear 6th Grade students,
THAT time of the year is finally here! May is almost just around the corner, so I thought I could share the dummy tests we are practising in class in case you want to take extra training. Good luck! 😉

Some months ago, actually last summer, I came across an app called Duolingo and I installed it in my iPad as I was looking for a free app to learn another language without the fuss of having to buy course books etc. Then life happened and I absolutely forgot about it.
Last week I saw it in my Resources folder by chance and I decided to give it a go. The results are very satisfying; you only get the exact grammar concept required to have you reading, writing, speaking, repeating and listening from the very first minute you start to play.
And yes, I really meant to say ‘play’ because as you learn you go unlocking levels and earning sort of red thingy prizes, and the point is that you must try to complete each level with all the four lives you were initially given.
It’s a very rewarding game and I plan to use it in the classroom with fast finishers and/or kids in need of extra support from this upcoming second term on.
If you want to give it a try you can sign up here:
What about you? Have you tried it already? Do you know other free and fun apps to learn languages?

As you all know we’ve just begun a school year full of exciting new activities that I’m sure will boost your skills in English 😃😉! Epals email exchange is one of them and our 6th graders are getting their messages ready for their new pals in Naples, Maine, a beautiful town on the northeast coast of the USA.
We’ll be working together with Lake Region Middle School throughout this school year and Grades 6 (until mid-November) and 7 and us will share language (Spanish/English) and culture for the next nine months. Ms. Andrea Utz Gallivan is the teacher at the other side of the Atlantic. Stay tuned, will be back with more info in the coming weeks!
